MATHCOUNTS Winners State Competition 2010

State Team for Nationals:
 



The team that North Carolina sent to the National MATHCOUNTS Competition is comprised of the top four individual winners at the State Competition.  From left to right: PENC MATHCOUNTS Co-Chair David Phipps, PE, Coach Jason Batterson, Sammy Luo from Hanes Magnet School, Kavi Jain of Metrolina Regional Scholars Academy, Yujian Tang of Ligon GT Middle School, Ben Taylor of Guy B. Phillips Middle School.

On May 7th in Orlando, FL, the North Carolina Team finished in 17th place.  Sammy Luo placed 14th overall and Benjamin Taylor finished 36th.

Ligon GT Middle School won the Team competition for the third year in a row! Here they pose with a representative from the Superintindent of Education's office, their coach Jason Batterson, Marc Worth, PE and Pam Townsend, PE.
