MATHCOUNTS Winners State Competition 2009

The team that North Carolina sent to the National MATHCOUNTS Competition is comprise of the top four individual winners at the State Competition. From left to right: State Superintindent June Atkinson, Coach Rohan Lewis from Ligon GT Middle School, Calvin Deng of Ligon GT Middle School, Jeffrey An of West Cary Middle School, Yu Wang of Guy B. Phillips Middle School, Remy Lee of Davis Drive Middle School, MATHCOUNTS Committee Co-Chair David Phipps, PE of Progress Energy.
On May 8th in Orlando, FL, the North Carolina Team did remarkably well! The team finished in 8th place. Calvin Deng placed 5th on the written round and was a quarter finalist in the countdown round. Jeffrey An finished 31st, and the other North Carolina team members all finished in the top 70! |
