Morton A. Barlaz, Ph.D., P.E., Professor and Head of Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering at North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC 27695-7908
Dr. Barlaz received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an M.S. and Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin. He has been a faculty member in the CCEE department since starting his academic career in 1989 and is honored to have been selected as the Department's 10th Head.
Dr. Barlaz has been involved in research in various aspects of solid waste, has conducted research on biological refuse decomposition, methane production, biodegradation of hazardous wastes in landfills and specializing in application of life-cycle analysis to the evaluation of waste management alternatives.
