Seminar Information Port of Anchorage Expansion The Port of Anchorage serves as the main point of entry for most consumer goods entering Alaska, and is currently in the process of undergoing a 10-year, $500 million expansion. The project will increase the number and types of berths at the port, deepen the dredge levels to accommodate larger container and cruise ships, barges, and tankers, support new military requirements, and extend the wharf face 400 feet seaward from the existing pier line to increase the staging area of the port to 160 acres. This program will provide an overview of the expansion project and will describe the challenges faced by the project team.
