July 1, 2009 - PENC Central Office Has Relocated

On June 26, 2009, PENC Central Office moved from its Centennial Campus location to an office on Wade Avenue.  The new address is:

The Central Office staff will be hosting an Open House on Thursday, July 23rd from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.  Members are invited to stop by to view the new space. 


June 30, 2009 - PENC Introduces New Class of Fellows

Professional Engineers of North Carolina (PENC) announced the members of the 2009 Class of PENC Fellows on June 12, 2009, during a ceremony at the PENC Professional Development Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. 

Election to PENC Fellow indicates that a  member has progressed to a high level of professional achievement or has made a significant engineering accomplishment. That member will also demonstrate a high level of character, reputation, and service to engineering in North Carolina.

June 24, 2009 - PENC Honors Leaders in the Engineering Profession

Raleigh, NC – Professional Engineers of North Carolina is proud to announce the 2009 Award Winners, all of whom were honored at the Annual Summer Conference in Myrtle Beach, SC, June 12-13, 2009. 

Hardy L. Willis, PE (president, PENC 2008-2009) presented J. Ray Cox, PE of Wilmington, NC with PENC’s highest honor, the 2009 President’s Award. This award was given in recognition and appreciation of Ray’s service to PENC in upholding the unified voice of the Engineering community.  Mr. Cox is with Highfill Infrastructure Engineering in Wilmington, NC. 

James M. Kizer, Jr, PE of Fayetteville, NC received the 2009 Engineer of the Year Award.  PENC gave this prestigious award in recognition of his leadership in PENC on the local and state level, his extensive participation in the Fayetteville community by serving on various advisory committees and commissions, and his general contributions to the Engineering profession.  Mr. Kizer is a partner in Moorman, Kizer & Reitzel, Inc. in Fayetteville, NC.

PENC presented Carl F. Bonner, PE of Wilson, NC with the 2009 Distinguished Service Award. Mr. Bonner was honored for the leadership he has displayed in the Eastern Carolina Chapter governance, the Public Image Committee, and the chapter’s MATHCOUNTS program. He is a principal for Terracon Consultants, Inc. in Winterville, NC.

Jeffery Brown, PE of Dunn, NC was presented with the 2009 Young Engineer of the Year Award. He was recognized for his educational and collegiate achievements while at NC State University, his leadership and service to PENC and the South Central Chapter of PENC, his involvement in the community, and his continuing competence. Mr. Brown is with the City of Fayetteville.

 

Hardy L. Willis, PE also presented Jennifer L. Bell, PE of Raleigh, NC with the 2009 President’s Star Award for Best Committee Chair.  He gave this award in appreciation of her efforts as Chair of the PENC Public Policy Committee.  Ms. Bell is with CH2M Hill in Raleigh, NC.
