PENC is a state society of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the society of engineering professionals from all disciplines that promotes the ethical and competent practice of engineering, advocates licensure, and enhances the image and well-being of its members.

PENC provides a unified voice to policymakers representing the interests of the engineering
professional. Through time spent networking with legislators and observing policy making
decisions, PENC strives to preserve the field of engineering in NC government and
uphold the integrity of professional engineering licensure.

Types of Membership
Licensed Member ($220/yr)
Renewal Rate ($296/year)
Holds a valid license as a Professional Engineer in the US or Canada (or international equivalent).
Member ($220/yr)
Renewal Rate ($296/year)
An EI/EIT, or a graduate of an engineering program accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) (or international equivalent).
Enterprise Member ($198/yr)
A business or organization with more than 5 PEs on staff may apply for enterprise membership. A 10% dues discount is included in the above cost.
Recent Graduate ($110/yr)
Graduated within the last 5 years from an undergraduate engineering program accredited by ABET or within the past 12 months from a graduate engineering program accredited by ABET.
Student ($20/yr)
Full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate engineering program accredited by ABET or an engineering or pre-engineering program that leads to engineering licensure (or international equivalent).
Free Membership for one year upon referral of two new PENC members.
