This position is responsible for producing the governance documents which state the Department stance on a topic as well as design basis information, giving the Engineering group guidance on the necessary details they need to complete their task as well as providing basis for consistent approaches to system design. Implementation of the standards requires developing and implementing change management plans, and acting as project manager for the changes required to implement the new or revised standard.

Since this position has such a critical role in establishing technical direction and philosophy for the Department, the lead engineer should possess high technical competence with the majority of their work experience in the electric utility industry. Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to forge consensus in a diverse group, and the capacity to represent the organization in various forums are some other important skills required for success in this position.
