How do I join PENC?
There are four ways to join PENC:
Online: Use the secure application.

What is included in my membership?
The better question is: "What doesn't come with my PENC membership?!?" When you join through PENC, you will automatically be joined at the national level with NSPE and with your local chapter. It's a three for one deal! Each membership comes with a full set of benefits.
How long will it take to process my application?
If you are joining online or over the phone, your membership will be activitated immediately. If applying via mail or fax, applicants should allow 5-7 business days from receipt for processing. PENC membership is enacted immediately, but NSPE membership will take 2-3 weeks to be processed.
Do I qualify for membership in PENC?
PENC/NSPE Bylaws state that all applicants must meet the qualifications set forth in one of the membership categories below in order to qualify for membership in PENC/NSPE.
A "licensed member" shall be defined as a person holding a valid license or certificate of registration as a professional engineer, issued under the laws of any state, territory, possession, or district of the United States, or the equivalent as defined under the laws of any other country, or a retired engineer who obtained and retained a valid license or certificate while in active practice in the profession until retirement.
A "member" shall be defined as a person holding a valid Engineer-In-Training or Engineering Intern certification, issued under the laws of any state, territory, possession or district of the United States, or the equivalent under the laws of any other country. A member shall automatically advance to the "licensed member" grade as soon as eligible by licensure.
A "student member" shall be defined as a person who is enrolled full-time in an ABET-accredited engineering program or an engineering or pre-engineering program that has an articulated or transfer agreement with ABET or an accredited program. A student enrolled full-time in a graduate level engineering program may choose any grade for which eligible, including student member.
A person who has graduated with a bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET-accredited engineering curriculum or from an engineering or pre-engineering program that leads to engineering licensure shall be granted recent graduate status for a period of 5 years.
How much does it cost to join?
PENC are pleased to offer a discounted introductory rate for all new members. An initial payment of $220 will cover enrollment in the state society, national society (NSPE) and local chapter for one full year of membership.
Recent graduates can join for discounted amounts depending on their graduation date.
Student membership dues are free.
Will I receive a membership certificate/membership card?
Members will receive a new member kit from NSPE that includes a membership card. Applicants can expect to receive this within 4-6 weeks of joining PENC.
PENC sends every new member a Membership certificates within 1-2 weeks of joining PENC. NSPE Membership certificates can be purchased from NSPE through www.nspe.org.
Did PENC receive my payment?
Members will be notified via email when payment is received. You should receive a confirmation email that includes payment information. If you do not receive an email, please contact PENC by emailing email@example.com or calling 919-834-1144 ext. 2.
How can I renew my membership?

What is my member ID number?
Members may find their member ID number on the card NSPE sent you when you joined. If you have lost the card, you can find your member number online by logging in to your PENC account. Once you are logged in, click on "My Information" on the left toolbar. For additional help, contact PENC at 919-926-3263.
When does my membership expire?
Expiration dates are listed in members' profile online. Once you are logged on, click on "My Information" on the left toolbar. For additional help, contact PENC at 919-926-3263.
How do I update my profile/contact information?
You may update your contact information online at www.penc.org. Once you are logged in, click on "My Information" on the left toolbar. Here you can change your basic contact information. To input more details, make sure to click on the "Edit Demographics" link on your profile.
